Our Values
1. The merger of Norfolk and Suffolk Probation Areas to become a single Trust provides a unique opportunity to create a dynamic and vibrant new organisation. The merger will be fully resourced and carefully managed to ensure efficient, quality services are realised in full.
2. The Trust will run on a business basis and will deliver Probation services that provide effective value for money.
3. The value base of the Trust will be developed around the sound and proven values that have been the foundation of the Probation Service. The foremost of these being that offenders are capable of positive change given the right input from and management by Probation staff and partners.
4. The basis of Trust practice will be that Probation expertise, particularly in partnership with stakeholders can impact upon the safety of communities positively and reduce the number of victims and re-offending.
5. The Trust aims to practise sound diversity principles. This includes being compliant with legislation and developing a culture of equality in its work with staff, stakeholders, offenders and the public.
6. The Trust will have strong and visible leadership, modelled by the Chief Executive and the Board. Local leaders will be empowered to function effectively by engaging with partners and the public, leading staff, and in conjunction with partners, delivering high quality, value for money services.
7. Strong and sustained performance will be central to the Trust. There will be a clear performance culture that is underpinned by a performance management framework which is based upon individual staff performance attainment.
8. Trust development will be based upon an inclusive approach that values the contribution of all staff. Particularly important will be the direct work with Trade Unions which will be a valuable part of organisation functioning. The Board and Chief Executive will ensure that Trade Unions are fully included in the effective functioning of the Trust.
9. The Trust will develop on the principle of continuous improvement. The European Foundation Quality Model (EFQM) and self-assessment will be the basis of improvement. Benchmarking and a good understanding of its cost base will be critical to developing effective and competitive practices.
